Women's Health

Special care for a woman’s special needs.

Brewer Physical Therapy owner Amanda Brewer, DPT, is especially sensitive to a woman’s needs. She knows that your body undergoes many changes throughout your life, especially during and after pregnancy.

Many concerns that arise are treatable with physical therapy such as pelvic floor strengthening exercises, dry needling, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercise. Pelvic floor strengthening exercises treat weak or tight muscles that form a sling-like structure in the pelvic region. Bladder, bowel, and sexual function often suffer from pelvic floor disorders.

Our female-specific care includes:

All of these conditions are common during pregnancy due to weight gain and elevated levels of hormones such as relaxin and estrogen. These hormones tend to make joints more mobile, causing ligament laxity. Postural changes during pregnancy can also create pain and discomfort.

Amanda will conduct a thorough evaluation of your condition and create a program that will help restore health, movement, function and comfort so you can focus on what really matters – living your healthiest life with your family.
